Baby Sling

Looking for a super quick and easy baby sewing project? Make a baby sling. It just might be the easiest thing I've ever sewn. I followed this tutorial. However, following those sizing measurements resulted in my sling being too small for my comfort, so I picked out the whole thing and added a couple of inches. Hence, the black strip. I used the sizing measurement instructions from this tutorial, but still followed the sewing instructions from the first one and the end result is perfect! If that's too confusing, let me know. Maybe I'll make another sling and just write my own tutorial. If interested, tell me and I would love to!

Newborn Tuxedo

I've been busy, busy, busy lately. Refinishing some furniture, redecorating my front room, getting family pictures taken, and numerous sewing projects. One of those projects includes this newborn tuxedo to bless my son in. I love it! It took a while to perfect the pattern and write down step-by-step instructions with pictures, but my mom helped (since it was based off her original pattern that she made 20 years ago), and together we did it!

Cabnicon - Easy Mirror

Check out this amazing mirror...the Easy Mirror! You set it up on the opposite wall of your bathroom mirror. It can store flat against the wall, but you can pull it out and angle it any way you would like so you can see the back of your hair. Perfect for hands-free hairstyling. I love it! I have one in every bathroom in my house. Also great for doing make-up so you can get a close-up without leaning over the counter. Watch this short video (39 seconds) for a demonstration.
If you have any questions, please let me know. They are made by Cabnicon. Contact info: (435) 635-2724, email: brian@cabnicon.com.

Apricot Jam

My parents have a huge fruit orchard. I was able to get some apricots from them and made 18 pints of cooked apricot jam. Delish! I used Sure-Jell Premium Fruit Pectin, which can be found at any grocery store.

Oreo Peanut Butter Dream

A couple of weeks ago my friend, Lindsey, introduced me to this yummy dessert. It was delicious!!! Naturally, I had to get the recipe.

You will need:
1 package of Oreos
1 jar of caramel ice cream topping
1 container peanut butter ice cream (Smith's has this in the Kroger brand
1 container Cool Whip

Set out ice cream to soften. Crumble half the package of Oreos and spread on bottom of 9x13 pan. Pour caramel over crumbled cookies. Spread softened ice cream over caramel. Spread Cool Whip on top of ice cream. Crumble remaining Oreo cookies and sprinkle on top. Put in freezer to set. Enjoy!

We also tried this with Mint Oreo ice cream last week, and it was just as scrumptious!

Red, White, and Blue Delight

Family Fun had this recipe for a yummy and festive dessert. It calls for strawberry sorbet, but I used raspberry because that's what the store I went to had. I think next time I may try this recipe for strawberry sorbet.

Mother's Washer Necklace

I've seen these washer necklaces all over the place, so I decided to make one for myself. Mine is a Mother's necklace with the names of my children. I wanted to put a jewel of their birthstones next to their name, but the washer wasn't big enough. Maybe I'll try again...especially since my stamping wasn't all that great.

Rainbow Cupcakes

Last week after one of the MANY rainstorms we've had this summer, a beautiful rainbow came out. My girls were so excited to see it. They kept talking about rainbows, so we decided to make rainbow cupcakes. The recipe calls for gel food coloring, but I didn't have that so we just used the liquid stuff. Also, I was out of red food coloring, so the top is a little more purple instead of red. My girls didn't seem to care. They loved them, and had fun making and eating them!
