Merry Christmas!
This is my best Christmas present ever!!!
Saw this idea here. I changed it a little. I used wonder under because that's what I had on hand, then top-stitched the ribbon to the onesie. I used velcro to attach the bow, so I sewed the soft piece of the velcro to the horizontal piece of the ribbon before I attached the wonder under, then sewed the rough piece of the velcro to the bottom of the bow. To find the spot where to sew the velcro piece, I tied my bow first, marked the spot on the ribbon with a pin, untied the bow and sewed the velcro on, then retied the bow to attach to the onesie. Found both the onesie and ribbon at Target. Merry Christmas everyone!

Christmas Pajama Pants
I know I already made pajamas for my girls for Christmas, but I saw this Christmas flannel and couldn't resist. Plus I had a 30% off coupon that was going to expire, so I had to use it, right? This time I added a ruffle to the bottom.
Love that addition! I just used a pair of pajama pants that each of my girls is currently wearing as my pattern, but if you really want a pattern, my friend has used this one and had great success.

Diaper Stacker Tutorial
The crib bedding has been delivered and turned out great. I have been promised a picture once the room is painted and everything is set up, so as soon as I get that picture, I'll let you all see the finished product. For now though, I have a sneak preview. I made a diaper stacker to go with everything.
I couldn't find a tutorial that I liked, so I figured one out on my own. Just in case there are some of you out there that would like to make one for yourself, here is a tutorial.
I couldn't find a tutorial that I liked, so I figured one out on my own. Just in case there are some of you out there that would like to make one for yourself, here is a tutorial.
Supplies needed:
-1 yard main fabric (my brown)
-1/4 yard top fabric (my cream)
-1/4 yard accent fabric (my blue)
-1/4 yard interfacing
-Coordinating Thread
-Children's Hanger (the plastic ones that come with clothing purchases, like from Old Navy, work great)
-Posterboard/Cardstock/Cardboard (8.5" x 11")
-Applique (optional)
***All seams 1/2"***
Instead of including pictures for every single step, I included them when I thought they would be most helpful. If any part of this is confusing, please let me know.
1. Cut the following pieces:
(A) - Main fabric 40.5" x 18.5"
(B) - Accent fabric 2 pieces 3.5" x 18.5"
(C) - Main fabric 4.5" x 45" (or length of fabric...this is the ruffle piece so it doesn't need to be exact)
(D) Top fabric 2 pieces and Interfacing 1 piece, this pattern
(E) Main fabric 12.5" x 9.5"
2. Fold (B) in half lengthwise, wrong sides together. Press.
3. Place (B) on top of (A), right sides together, with long raw ends of (B) lined up with short raw ends of (A). Stitch. Finish seam (serge, zigzag, etc.). Press seam open. You should now have this:
4. Apply interfacing and any appliques to one of the (D) pieces.
5. Fold short ends of (C) under 1/4" towards wrong side. Press. Fold (C) in half lengthwise, wrong sides together, concealing short end raw edges. Press. Topstitch short ends. Stitch a gathering stitch along long edge. Gather fabric and pin (C) to interfaced/appliqued (D), right sides together, leaving 1/2" at the bottom of each side for a seam allowance when we connect this piece to the main part.
Stitch. Do not finish the seam yet.
6. Grab the other piece (D) and serge 1" along the top middle.
7. Pin (D) pieces right sides together, with ruffle inside. Stitch together except for the 1" on top where serged.
Finish seam, making sure to pull the 1" serged piece out of the way. (This is where the hanger will go through). Turn right side out and you should have something like this:
8. Center raw edges of (A) and (D) right sides together.
Grab center of the excess on the side of (A)
and pull in to the seam of (D).
Fold the front and back flap in and over to lay flat.
Press pleats. Repeat on other side. You should have something like this:
Stitch around. Finish seams.
9. Pin (E) to bottom of (A), right sides together.
Stitch, making sure to pivot on corners. Finish seam.
10. Place posterboard in bottom and put the hanger through the top, and you are ALL DONE!!!
Note: If you would like to make one for a boy, you can either make this without the ruffle, or add piping using the same method found in this tutorial.

The Elf on the Shelf
I was just introduced to this fun Christmas tradition called "The Elf on the Shelf".
We got it out last night for our kids and it was a huge hit. An elf comes with the book, but I got a really cute one at Robert's to use instead.
The book runs through the whole story, but pretty much the basis is that this is a magic elf that Santa sent to our house to watch our kids and report back to him if they are naughty or nice. You can't touch him or he'll lose his magic. Every night he goes home to the North Pole to report the day to Santa, then comes back and sits in a new place each day. My kids tell him what they want for Christmas, and he tells Santa that as well. You are supposed to name your elf, and my kids chose, George. So until Christmas, George the elf is helping make our holiday season a little more fun.
