Recipe Review #34: Scones

I love scones! They are delicious for Navajo Tacos, or as a dessert! Here's my recipe:

¼ cup warm water
1 T. yeast
¼ cup shortening
1 ¼ cup milk
1 egg
¼ cup sugar
2 tsp. salt
4 cups flour

Dissolve yeast in water. Let grow. Melt shortening in milk. Let cool until warm. Add milk mixture, sugar, salt, and egg. Add flour. Knead. Let rise until double in size, or about an hour. Cut up into pieces, roll out flat, and deep fry.

We love them with honey butter: Or powdered sugar:
