Dresser Transformation & YOUR Round 1 Link-ups

I found this dresser on KSL last month for a steal: It's pretty old, faded, and chipping all over the place, but it's solid wood and I had an idea in my head, so I bought it and turned it into this: What do you think? Honestly, I'm kind of on the fence about it. Sometimes when I look at it, I LOVE it! Then other times I look at it and think it's not quite what I was picturing in my head. I'd love to hear your opinion.

I sanded it down, scrubbed it inside & out, painted it white, glazed it with Ralph Lauren Tobacco Faux Glaze, finished it off with a coat of polyurethane, and put new hardware on it.

I'm sure most of you are wondering what this has to do with the "Crafting with the Stars" contest that's going on right now. Well, it's a hint for Round 2's theme. I'll let your imaginations ponder that one for a day. The 9 pairs that will be moving on will be announced tonight at midnight MST.

In the meantime, you guys spoke up and I can now vote more than once. So keep those votes coming. Go now! You have until 10 pm MST tonight. EVERY VOTE COUNTS!!! They are all amazing and I wish we could keep all of them, but this is only a 4-week competition and we've got to get a winner somehow.

Now it's time for YOU to link-up your Round 1 projects. What did you do that is Brand Inspired/Knock-Off?

  1. I really don't think I can wait for the results!! And if Round 2's theme is what I think it is...then I have the PERFECT project that I have been waiting to do that will drive my husband crazy!! Whether I make it through or not...I can't wait for Round 2:)

  2. Oh...and I forgot to say that I LOVE the dresser:)

  3. Its amazing!! I want to buy some old solid wood thing and rock it like this!!!

  4. I love the finish on the dresser, but I'm not crazy about the carving detail on the drawers. If I did this project, I probably would have tried to figure out a way to cover up those carvings...

I can't wait for the next round of CWTS!

  5. the dresser is darling! you did a great job, i'm not sure about the carvings with the boy deco. if you weren't able to eliminate them, i'd probably put the dresser into a different, more traditional room because of its feminine lines and find a contemporary one for the cute boys room! love your blog!

  6. I agree, the dresser is actually great, but maybe not for a boy. The dresser it self looks awesome though!

  7. You did a great job on that dresser. Maybe the carvings are throwing you off. I like the lines of it for a boys room. Maybe if you put wood filler on the decorative areas to fill them in, you would like it better.

  8. K too funny! I found, i think, the same dresser and redid it. I linked it up in your party! Love how it turned out too!
