Hair Bow Holder

My bathroom is getting closer to being done. I wanted to pull more of the green into the room. I have two daughters, which means I have a lot of hair bows. Most of them are clipped to ribbon that is hanging on the back of the bathroom door, but some are piling up in the drawers, so I decided to make a hair bow holder. *Update: I wasn't loving this, so I decided to just spray paint the frame green and I like it better, see?
I started out with this $3.00 picture frame I found at my local thrift store. Then spray-painted the frame white and topped it off with a glaze I made by mixing the desired color of toll paint with Valspar clear mixing glaze. Mod-podged some fabric and batting onto the board that came with the frame, then threw in some chicken wire and there you go. You can't really see the glaze, fabric, or chicken wire with all of those bows, so here's a close-up.
Here's the updated close-up as well.
I like it better so that's all that counts, right? One step closer to finishing this bathroom. Just a few more things and I think it'll be there!

  2. Great idea! I've been looking for a good way to store the crocheted flower clips I make, that still looks pretty! This is a fantastic idea! Thanks for sharing!

  4. Super super super cute!!! I'm intimidated by the chicken wire, but I think I need to get over it. My daughter's bows are on a ribbon holder too and it's getting way too full.

  5. Love it! I am also intimidated by chicken wire...how did you cut it? I think I could use something like this in my bathroom!

  6. Tori-

I used wire cutters to cut the chicken wire. Most pliers are also wire cutters.

  7. this is a great idea! Now do you have an equally great idea for long ribbons? My daughter goes back and forth between bows on hair ties and ribbon that I tie for her into bows-and I use those ribbons too-I'm a P.E. teacher with 3 male team mates so I try to look as girly as I can each day!! Thanks again for the great idea!!
