Star Highlight: Char of Crap I've Made

Where do I even begin with this next star? I won't even tell you that she is one of my favorite blogs, because the truth is she is my very favorite blog. I'm talking about Char of Crap I've Made.

Not only is she insanely talented, she is absolutely hilarious, and I really do mean hilarious. I'm fortunate enough to know her in person. In fact, we met over 7 years ago when we built houses across the street from each other. Yes, she's the neighbor I call to borrow a cup of sugar, but she's also one of my very best friends. I joke that I have to have my daily dose of Char, but sometimes I'm not joking. My 5-year old has asked me before when I laugh out loud after reading a text, "Is that Char?", and it was. I love Char's wit and humor, and laugh out loud frequently when talking with or texting her. She is so easy to talk to. She is also REAL. She tells you how it is - what you see is what you get. I love it and I admire it. Truth be told, I admire HER a lot.

She is a great friend and is always thinking of others. When I was on bed rest with my son, she brought me dinner multiple times, without being asked. We've had many late night chats and fun ice cream runs or Girls' Night Outs, and she's always there to help me with my creative endeavors. So that's a little why she is one of my very favorite people, but let me share with you now why she is my number 1 favorite blog. (Even if we weren't friends, I would read this blog religiously).

Who hasn't seen her ruffle butt onesie? It was Ucreate's 2009 tutorial of the year and exploded all over blogland, and is still super popular.

Remember a couple of years ago when appliques weren't EVERYWHERE? Char introduced me to them, and I'm sure to many of you as well. Starting with the tie, and she also made some super cute octopus and rocket ones.

She's got some seriously impressive sewing skills. I don't think there is anything she can't sew (with or without a pattern). She claims that she is not a quilter, but she made this darling Flutter and Flowers quilt in 2 hours. Seriously, I don't even know if it was that long. She was at my house one minute looking at fabric and designing the thing, then just like that, she was sending me a text with the finished quilt. That means quilt top with appliques, quilting, and binding. WOW!

And what about this embellished cardigan. Talk about patience.

Who could forget about her kids' Halloween costumes? UNBELIEVABLE!!!
Buddy the Elf and Santa Claus

and Slurpee Costumes

One year (before blogging), she made her kids' pirate costumes. She had one child still in a stroller, so she made the stroller a pirate ship. I wish I had a picture to show you. It was incredible!

She's amazing at home decor, like this kitchen art.

Great at holiday crafts like these rubber cement dyed Easter eggs.

Don't even get me started on the ideas she's shown that you can do with a Silhouette? You'll have to click over for yourself, there are too many good ones to list.

I really could go on and on, but I have to leave you with some of my very favorite moments, that make this blog completely different than any other blog you will ever come across. THIS photo essay still makes me laugh. As well as posts like this, this, and this. Trust me, click over and you will be so glad you did. Reading her blog, you get humor anecdotes like those all the time. It brightens my day.

So between Char's wit and talent, Crap I've Made is a definite must-read!

  2. Awww, that was sweetly written, Tam! You are a good friend to HER! I agree with everything you said about wonderful Char. She is pretty great!!!

  3. I have no reason to butt-kiss, because I don't know either of you. However, I must agree with everything you've said! I have a long list of blogs bookmarked in order of how much I like them (so if I have limited time I just hit my favorites) and Char's has been at the top of the list for as long as I can remember! It's great to read that she's as awesome in real life as she is on the internet. <3
