Ok, actually my birthday was a couple of weeks ago, but I got my present in the mail last Friday. Meet my very own Nikon D90!
(I am giddy with excitement)!!!

Isn't she a beauty? I am in L.O.V.E.!!!! No more crappy pictures on this blog. Well at least not because of the camera. If the picture is not-so-great, that would be because of the photographer (Moi=Me).
I have been wanting to get a DSLR camera for a long, long time. Last spring, I was admiring some pictures from a friend, and she had the Nikon D90. Then in the summertime I was talking with my brother-in-law and he had the D60(?), but really wanted the D90. Everyone I talked to said you can't go wrong with either a Canon or a Nikon. Anyway, when it came down to it, I went with the Nikon D90 Body only. I am so excited to learn all the functions of this camera and play with it.
I bought the body only, because I knew I wanted several other lenses anyway, so I figured I would save money and not buy the "packaged" one. From what I had researched, I knew I wanted a lens that had a decent zoom. Amazon had a great deal where if you bought the camera from them, you could get up to $250 off certain lenses. I chose the Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR [Vibration Reduction] Nikkor Zoom Lens.

Then I also wanted a lens with a low f-stop (aperture), so I could do things like bokeh (blurry background with front object focused). I chose the Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens.

I feel like I've got all the tools, and now I need to learn the know-how. I've got big plans for that (you'll see one of the ways tomorrow), but I'm always open to suggestions, so please feel free to pass on your words of photography wisdom.
Also, be sure to stay tuned because next week I have a HUGE giveaway ($150 value) for all of you and this post is a clue. Get excited!

YAY! I love my D90. And the 50mm 1.8 is an awesome lens. If you are new to the world of digital SLRs, maybe check out Kristen Duke's e-book, Say No To Auto. I have heard fantastic things about it. I don't personally own it since I never shoot on auto, but from what I've heard it is a great resource. www.kristendukephotography.com

Happy *Belated* Birthday!
ReplyDeleteI got a Canon Rebel T2i around Halloween and LOVE it. I also got two lenses and use them all the time! Even if you don't learn every little part of the camera, you're pictures are still going to be much more spectacular than with a point-and-shoot!
Oh, I'm so jealous but good for you! I'd love a new camera like this one. Oh heck, I'd love just about any new camera!
ReplyDeleteHow perfectly wonderful for you!! Congratuations on your belated birthday gift. Now let's see results! ~karen

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!! My advice..read your manual, with your camera in hand, and learn all you can from it. Good luck :)
