Sharing….You and Me

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately about my blog. It’s hard not to compare and beat yourself up at times. Yesterday I had the amazing opportunity to meet with Tauni, PR genius and co-founder of Creative Estates Conference (amongst many other incredible things). We were discussing my thoughts and she got me thinking,

“What do I want from my blog?”

Basically, it comes down to what I like the most about blogging are the relationships I build and the friendships I make.

I really want to get to know you my readers. I’ve been fortunate to meet some of you IRL (in real life) and have enjoyed that immensely. I realize that I can’t meet all of you in person, but I would still like to develop friendships with you the best I can through this blog, email, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

I like to share projects I’ve made with you because it’s an outlet for me, of sorts, to reach out to others. Remember when you were a little kid and you were so excited to show your mom and dad anything you made. I guess I’m still like that. So I truly LOVE, LOVE, LOVE when I post something and you guys share your feedback with me. It makes my day more than you will ever know. But I realize that I need to do a better part about reaching out to you and actually connecting.

Therefore, I’m going to start something new. I’ll share something with you about me, then I REALLY want you to share back. Kind of like we are having a “getting to know you” conversation.

To kick things off, I’ll tell you a few things about myself.

This is my family on two days ago on Easter Sunday.
Family-Easter-sunday
My name is Tam, short for Tamarynn. I’ve been married to my husband, Dan for almost 9 years. We have two daughters, Kennedy (5) and Taylor (4), one son Carson (22 months), and another boy coming in about 10 weeks.

We live in the Salt Lake City, Utah area. I’m originally from the sunny St. George, Utah area, but moved away when I went to college, met my husband, and he dragged me to the cold after we graduated 8 years ago. I’ve been trying to acclimate ever since and still struggle with the snow. Before I had children I was an accountant. Now I get to be a SAHM and love every difficult minute of it!
Family-easter-egg-hunt

I’ll limit it to that for now. I’ll share more in the future, but now I want to get to know YOU!

If you read this, please leave a comment telling me what your blog is. I want to come visit you and get to know you better. If you want to leave a tidbit of info about you as well, that would be great! Help me get to know you better, any way I can. I would really appreciate it.

And as always, thanks for reading! You guys rock!!!

  3. Hi Tam, you have such a cute family there! Thanks for sharing that information with us. With my blog, it took a little while to get going, but I think I can really relate to the reasons you've said.
I've always been crafty since I was young, being influenced by my mother. I actually have two blogs, one with my sewing and life in general; the other is all about my work as a balloon twister which is another creative outlet and oodles of fun!

Thanks for your blog and all the wonderful inspiration it provides :D

  6. What a great idea to get to know you better - I am Tone from www.blessbytone@blogspot.com - I am a single mother of twin girls, age 6, and because I'm a single mother, I'm also a full-time worker - I work as a teacher/school leader for what would be most similar to a GED class. I love my job, but I wish I would be able to be more at home with my girls. Nice to meet you. Tone

I adore all your posts and love to craft, but secretly I'm TERRIBLE at sewing. My mother is this amazing seamstress and I think it might skip generations because the entire thing intimidates me to no end.
Thanks for all your craftiness and inspiration. Hope we chat again,

  22. HI Tam! I started my blog about 5 years ago after I had my first son. It is basically a mixture of lots of things. Sometimes I share crafts and sewing projects, but mainly it's all about my family. We just completed an adoption from China, so lately my blog has been about our adoption process, our trip to China and now life at home with my three kiddos! I have two boys (ages 5 and 3) and the newest addition, my sweet daughter will be 2 on June 1st. www.3wades.blogspot.com

Thanks so much for the introduction, Tam. You have some beautiful little ones!

I live in Michigan with my hubby & two little boys {ages 6 & 4}. I was an elementary teacher before becoming a SAHM - - now I try desperately to find craft & jewelry design time amidst our busy day. I am celebrating my tenth anniversary next month {met my husband in college and moved where he wanted to go, too!}.

  30. I just want to say that I love your blog. I stalk a lot of craft blogs and never comment or anything because I'm just one in hundreds, but I so appreciate the work you put in to your blog and your tutorials. I just had a birthday and got a Joann's gift card, so I have some money for a project and I can't decide which one from your site to use it on, there are so many choices! I have a blog, but it's just a personal journal type blog. It's jeremycookfamily.blogspot.com. You are more than welcome to check it out, and thanks again!

I started my blog when I was big into scrapbooking and it was more of a family blog. I took a two year hiatus and resumed blogging in Dec. 2010 and decided to make my blog more about my love of all things crafty! I'd love for you to visit! Have a fabulous day! :)

  32. Hi Tam! Nice to meet you! I am the mother of 3 busy boys down here in sunny St. George. I love your blog. I'm working on starting a blog of my own (besides my family blog). I am creating it as a place to keep track of everything I've created (crafts, food, stuff for church or my kids...stuff like that). It's also going to be a place where I keep track of everything I want to create someday. It's nowhere close to being ready for public, but I hope someday it will be.

  33. My sister and I have always been curious about what all these SAHM blogger's husbands do? It's rarely mentioned so we make up fascinating stories about secret spies and politicians and doctors who make house calls. I'm sure in real life it's not that interesting but I thought I'd take the opportunity to ask, What is your husband's profession?

  34. Hello Tamarynn again! Hehe! I just wanted to let you know that I do follow your blog all the time and I think that you have done an amazing job developing it. I guess something you may not know about me is that I secretyly wish I was crafty and creative. All of your tutorials are great and there are numerous ones I would like to do but I am afraid I would just massacre them. Haha! I just don't think I have that eye or creative side to me AT ALL. So I will continue to support you and your blog and hopefully get the confidence one day to try out something. Keep up the good work. ;-)

P.S. Hey number 5.....you suck! Haha! Good times.

  45. Thank you for sharing and being so candid. I have been struggling how I would like my 'business' blog to be. I think that I have finally figured out to just focus on photography and be ok with having my photography blog not just be about photography. My web designer aka my awesome husband is working on reformatting my photography website so that it can do what I want it to do. www.studio21photos.com I am also expecting but I have about 15 weeks to go and this will be baby #3. We did something different this time and we did not find out the sex of the baby! We already have a girl and boy and decided to wait until delivery to see who else would be joining our family. Thanks again for sharing, its a great idea.

I stuck with my scrapbooking blog, and every now and then I use my other ones. I started my blog just as an online diary of my life, and turned into my love of scrapbooking. But I LOVE so much more, which makes things so difficult sometimes. My name is Cherie (pronounced the french way). I have been married to my wonderful husband for almost 3 years. We have decided to wait another year or so to start a family, but KENNEDY is our #1 girls name right now. :)

WAAAAAAAH! would be unprofessional) so I was going to go back to school to become a teacher the year after hubby and I got married. We were supposed to never be able to get pregnant so I wanted a really fulfilling career. Well, two months after we got married I did get pregnant, and this August we'll have been married for five years and we have two beautiful daughters! :D So, I do have a really fulfilling job, and I greatly enjoy creating things in my spare time.
