Sharing….You and Me

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately about my blog. It’s hard not to compare and beat yourself up at times. Yesterday I had the amazing opportunity to meet with Tauni, PR genius and co-founder of Creative Estates Conference (amongst many other incredible things). We were discussing my thoughts and she got me thinking,

“What do I want from my blog?”

Basically, it comes down to what I like the most about blogging are the relationships I build and the friendships I make.

I really want to get to know you my readers. I’ve been fortunate to meet some of you IRL (in real life) and have enjoyed that immensely. I realize that I can’t meet all of you in person, but I would still like to develop friendships with you the best I can through this blog, email, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

I like to share projects I’ve made with you because it’s an outlet for me, of sorts, to reach out to others. Remember when you were a little kid and you were so excited to show your mom and dad anything you made. I guess I’m still like that. So I truly LOVE, LOVE, LOVE when I post something and you guys share your feedback with me. It makes my day more than you will ever know. But I realize that I need to do a better part about reaching out to you and actually connecting.

Therefore, I’m going to start something new. I’ll share something with you about me, then I REALLY want you to share back. Kind of like we are having a “getting to know you” conversation.

To kick things off, I’ll tell you a few things about myself.

This is my family on two days ago on Easter Sunday.
My name is Tam, short for Tamarynn. I’ve been married to my husband, Dan for almost 9 years. We have two daughters, Kennedy (5) and Taylor (4), one son Carson (22 months), and another boy coming in about 10 weeks.

We live in the Salt Lake City, Utah area. I’m originally from the sunny St. George, Utah area, but moved away when I went to college, met my husband, and he dragged me to the cold after we graduated 8 years ago. I’ve been trying to acclimate ever since and still struggle with the snow. Before I had children I was an accountant. Now I get to be a SAHM and love every difficult minute of it!

I’ll limit it to that for now. I’ll share more in the future, but now I want to get to know YOU!

If you read this, please leave a comment telling me what your blog is. I want to come visit you and get to know you better. If you want to leave a tidbit of info about you as well, that would be great! Help me get to know you better, any way I can. I would really appreciate it.

And as always, thanks for reading! You guys rock!!!

  1. Well.. it's very nice to meet you Tam! :-) I LOVE your blog... and I usually find myself drooling over the wonderfully creative ideas that you have. Can you come kick the creative part of my brain in gear? :-)

  3. Hi Tam, you have such a cute family there! Thanks for sharing that information with us. With my blog, it took a little while to get going, but I think I can really relate to the reasons you've said.
I've always been crafty since I was young, being influenced by my mother. I actually have two blogs, one with my sewing and life in general; the other is all about my work as a balloon twister which is another creative outlet and oodles of fun!

Thanks for your blog and all the wonderful inspiration it provides :D

  6. What a great idea to get to know you better - I am Tone from www.blessbytone@blogspot.com - I am a single mother of twin girls, age 6, and because I'm a single mother, I'm also a full-time worker - I work as a teacher/school leader for what would be most similar to a GED class. I love my job, but I wish I would be able to be more at home with my girls. Nice to meet you. Tone

  7. HI TAM! (;

    Thanks for sharing! (;
Please come over (virtually over the ocean!)

    So: have a nice day and hop over! (;
I also sew little projects every now and then, but I have not learned it!

  8. only 10 weeks left?! Awesome! Your family is really adorable.
I always check out your blog in my Google Reader on my phone, but rarely comment...sorry! I really love the way you've organised it. :)

  10. Hi Tam, My name is Rhonda and my blog is www.NOidlehandshere.blogspot.com, I started it when I started working in a paper crafting store and have tried to keep up by posting weekly. I am in Fort Worth,TX, our store is doing nicely and I enjoy blogging about the things we do there. I also love all your little nuggets of information here and look forward to learning more. Congrats on the growing family, they are beautiful.

  11. I found your blog with the Laundry Room Makeover. It was very inspiring. I like your clean lines creativity. I have three blogs, two political(on break to regroup on them) and one about my creative life. If you have time, it would be a pleasure to have you stop by. http://sageendeavors.blogspot.com/

  12. So, Tam, you want to get to know 3,196 followers? Wow, good luck with that! Love your post and your wanting to get to know us. I live in Rhode Island; one husband, one 25-yr-old daughter, one son-in-law, one 22-yr-old son, one 6-mth-old grandson (my profile pic). If you check out my blog you can see a pic of all of us back on December 27. I've been following you for quite a while and love it! xoxo

  13. Hi Tam; What a great looking family! This is a brilliant idea and I am enjoying reading everyone's comments - lot's more lovely blogs to peruse. My blog is http://www.licklepickle.blogspot.com/ ; I would love you to stop by.

  14. Great post!! Love getting to know you a little better - - my info's on my bio page:

  15. I'm your neighbor! Well, sort of - I live just outside of Salt Lake in Tooele. My sister and I blog about helps for moms on one site, and education/lesson plans on another (we're homeschoolers).
I adore all your posts and love to craft, but secretly I'm TERRIBLE at sewing. My mother is this amazing seamstress and I think it might skip generations because the entire thing intimidates me to no end.
Thanks for all your craftiness and inspiration. Hope we chat again,

  16. Tamarynn is a PRETTY name! Just assumed it was short for Tammy... ;) I'm Kassi from Truly Lovely - http://trulylovelywiththelaneysisters.blogspot.com and My Road to Mrs - http://myroadtomrs.blogspot.com.

I am right in the midst of planning my June wedding! I'm 7 months into my FIRST real job out of grad school.... And my mister and I just bought a house that we have yet to move into... SO lots of excitement going on here. :)

  17. What a great idea! It was so much fun getting to know your family!! Thanks!
My name is Kristi and I am a stay at home mother to a wonderful, soon to be, 2 year old. We are adding to our family this August, but we aren't finding out the gender.
    I write over at:

  18. I completely agree that the people are the best part of blogging! I have really enjoyed your blog and am so excited for your #4- I also live in UT (no. Utah county) and have 4 kiddos too! It's so fun to know more about you.

  19. I'm usually a lurker... and my blog has been in a semi permanent hiatus the last little while. I'm just not feelin it like I used to. It makes me sad and I'm trying to get back to it..... we'll see. Anyway, I'm a SAHM to 3 kiddos - 2 boys and a girl. Hubby and I both grew up in Southeastern Idaho and now live in Yuma, Arizona. And I hear ya on the snow thing... ick! I'd love for you to visit my blog, just don't expect too much right now ;) Oh... but do scroll down through the posts and see my Christmas Quilt post. It should be on that first page... I'm pretty proud of those :)

  20. Hello, Tam,
My name is Kathy and I am also a Utah SAHM and new blogger. I'm in North Utah County and have 5{!} kids. Before you know it, it will be 90 degrees up here, too, and you will be glad to not be in the St. George area. :)

    My blog is mishmashmom.blogspot.com

  21. I always enjoy reading your blog, thanks for sharing! I share crafts and occasionally a California adventure on my blog. I haven't been blogging for very long so I'm constantly amazed at all of the ideas out there! I'd love for you to stop by http://endures-all-things.blogspot.com

  22. HI Tam! I started my blog about 5 years ago after I had my first son. It is basically a mixture of lots of things. Sometimes I share crafts and sewing projects, but mainly it's all about my family. We just completed an adoption from China, so lately my blog has been about our adoption process, our trip to China and now life at home with my three kiddos! I have two boys (ages 5 and 3) and the newest addition, my sweet daughter will be 2 on June 1st. www.3wades.blogspot.com

  23. Fun idea! Nice to 'meet' you. I'm Tanya, sahm to two chaotic and lovable boys. My blog is Sew Many Dreams, although I've found myself hooked on other crafts as much as sewing.

  24. Hi Tam, you have a beautiful family!

My blog is all about our busy, weird lives. Love my husband and my two boys and my veggie garden :D

Would love it if you stopped by! casadeberry.blogspot.com

  25. What do I want from my blog? I've been thinking the same thing a lot lately.

Thanks so much for the introduction, Tam. You have some beautiful little ones!

I live in Michigan with my hubby & two little boys {ages 6 & 4}. I was an elementary teacher before becoming a SAHM - - now I try desperately to find craft & jewelry design time amidst our busy day. I am celebrating my tenth anniversary next month {met my husband in college and moved where he wanted to go, too!}.

    Catherine @ Avery & Winslow

  26. Your family is beautiful! Thanks for sharing what you do on your blog... it is inspiring to so many of us. There seems to be a lot of "thinking about blogging" going on lately and it is nice to see people connecting! Find mine at www.scrapgoo.blogspot.com

  27. I really enjoy getting to know the person behind the blogging! We are in similar boats being SAHM of 3. I blog with my sisters at www.bitsofeverything.com. We are just getting started, but loving it already!

  28. Fun idea! I work part time coaching a hs swim team and nannying. My blog is www.oversontwo.blogspot.com

  29. What a fun idea! It's fun to read the other comments as well.
I'm Amy and I blog at thehappyscraps.blogspot.com. I enjoy doing a lot of creative things such as sewing, making decor, and creating anyway I can, but my most favorite thing to do is scrapbooking and card making. Although they seem to happen the least.
I also live in the Salt Lake area. :)

  30. I just want to say that I love your blog. I stalk a lot of craft blogs and never comment or anything because I'm just one in hundreds, but I so appreciate the work you put in to your blog and your tutorials. I just had a birthday and got a Joann's gift card, so I have some money for a project and I can't decide which one from your site to use it on, there are so many choices! I have a blog, but it's just a personal journal type blog. It's jeremycookfamily.blogspot.com. You are more than welcome to check it out, and thanks again!

  31. Hi Tam! Nice to "meet" you, although I have been reading your blog for quite some time now! :)

I'm ali from SLC, UT too! And can I just say..this weather we've been having...I'm over it!

I started my blog when I was big into scrapbooking and it was more of a family blog. I took a two year hiatus and resumed blogging in Dec. 2010 and decided to make my blog more about my love of all things crafty! I'd love for you to visit! Have a fabulous day! :)

  32. Hi Tam! Nice to meet you! I am the mother of 3 busy boys down here in sunny St. George. I love your blog. I'm working on starting a blog of my own (besides my family blog). I am creating it as a place to keep track of everything I've created (crafts, food, stuff for church or my kids...stuff like that). It's also going to be a place where I keep track of everything I want to create someday. It's nowhere close to being ready for public, but I hope someday it will be.

  33. My sister and I have always been curious about what all these SAHM blogger's husbands do? It's rarely mentioned so we make up fascinating stories about secret spies and politicians and doctors who make house calls. I'm sure in real life it's not that interesting but I thought I'd take the opportunity to ask, What is your husband's profession?

  34. Hello Tamarynn again! Hehe! I just wanted to let you know that I do follow your blog all the time and I think that you have done an amazing job developing it. I guess something you may not know about me is that I secretyly wish I was crafty and creative. All of your tutorials are great and there are numerous ones I would like to do but I am afraid I would just massacre them. Haha! I just don't think I have that eye or creative side to me AT ALL. So I will continue to support you and your blog and hopefully get the confidence one day to try out something. Keep up the good work. ;-)

P.S. Hey number 5.....you suck! Haha! Good times.

  35. Hi Tam! I'm Marissa. I live in the hot and humid Houston, TX area and would love to share in your snow "struggles". It's already in the 90's here and it's not even summer yet, just imagine the dog days of August...yuck. I have two blogs, one about our family and daily life and one for my crafting adventures and inspirations. Feel free to check them both out:

  36. HELLO! My name is Miranda :-) I'm a Navy wife living in Hawaii. I really enjoy reading your blog! You have a beautiful family!! :-)

    Have a fantastic week girly!

  37. How funny - I was thinking about posting something similar to this. I think we both put on our thinking caps last night! Tauni is wonderful - and when I get a solid plan I plan on reaching out to my readers as well!

P.s. I am Amanda - but I am sure you already know far more than you would like to about me! haha!

  38. Hi Tam!
Your blog has such darling ideas, love them! Thanks for all the inspiration. You have such a cute family. I just started my craft blog a few months ago, its nice to have an outlet. Congrats on the new little addition in a few short weeks :)

I have three children (ages 5, almost 4, and 2.5). My husband and I have been married for almost 7 years. I live in Pennsylvania, but I'm originally from Ohio. Thanks for taking time to share. It helps get my creative juices flowing. :) My blog is mylilpumpkinpatch.blogspot.com

  42. I love getting to know people too! Thanks. I live fairly close to you, just west. I am also a SAHM and it's the best (and sometimes worst) job in the world! I have a craft blog http://busylizzybows.blogspot.com and my family blog http://jameslizhurst.blogspot.com
It was fun to read about your family hope you enjoy mine too.

  43. Hi Tam! This post was a nice shout out to all your followers! My name is Leah and I blog over at mommyyousayit.com. Pretty new to the blogging world but I am enjoying it! I am married to my great husband, Paul and we have 3 children. Operated but since closed down a handmade business but looking to get back in the action with a new soap endeavor! I enjoy looking at all your craftiness! Come swing by my blog!

  44. Cutest Easter pic!!! Thanks for letting us know a little more about the girl behind the blog. I am www.MLinLA.blogspot.com and live in L.A., but grew up in wonderful rainy Seattle. Married, no kids, former screenwriter, now being as crafty as possible while running a small business with my husband. Thanks for doing what you do here - it's so much work, but I love it and I'm glad you do too. I wish I'd gone to Creative Estates, sure sounded fun!

  45. Thank you for sharing and being so candid. I have been struggling how I would like my 'business' blog to be. I think that I have finally figured out to just focus on photography and be ok with having my photography blog not just be about photography. My web designer aka my awesome husband is working on reformatting my photography website so that it can do what I want it to do. www.studio21photos.com I am also expecting but I have about 15 weeks to go and this will be baby #3. We did something different this time and we did not find out the sex of the baby! We already have a girl and boy and decided to wait until delivery to see who else would be joining our family. Thanks again for sharing, its a great idea.

  46. Nice to meet you. I've been blogging for about 6 months and you can visit me here http://ncweekendquilter.blogspot.com/

I use my blog to share my creations because it is fun to share and see what others are doing.

  47. My name's Ramona, but everyone calls me Monie. My blog is lifeassweetashoneycombs@blogspot.com, which I'm working on updating more often.

I'm married to a great guy named Kyle, we have a little girl named Kady, and we're about 11 weeks from welcoming a little boy into our family.

  48. I have been contemplating on what I want my blog to be about for a while. I even started 3 blogs to see which I enjoyed more. I stuck with my scrapbooking blog, and every now and then I use my other ones. I started my blog just as an online diary of my life, and turned into my love of scrapbooking. But I LOVE so much more, which makes things so difficult sometimes. My name is Cherie (pronounced the french way). I have been married to my wonderful husband for almost 3 years. We have decided to wait another year or so to start a family, but KENNEDY is our #1 girls name right now. :)

  49. Thanks for sharing and introducing "us" to your family! I enjoy your blog, and must admit that i don't have a blog... I just lurk on others'! My Google account calls me "manybooks", but most others call me Linda. I'm a wife/mom/teacher from CO, and I'm fairly new to quilting, and I really enjoy learning new things! I love the inspiration that I get from blogs, and I can't thank you bloggers enough for sharing so openly with me. Nice to meet you!

  50. I know what you mean! I have had a tough time "catagorizing" my blog. I've been blogging for a number of years now, meandering from scrapbooking to party planning to geocaching. Now my blog is just me and whatever I'm up to ~ with a dash of handsome husband and crazy twin three year olds! Thanks for sharing ~ it's nice to get to know you!
p.s. Do you vlog? I've just started and it's a fab way to meet and get to know other bloggers!

  51. Hi Tam, thank you for introducing us to your beautiful family!

I'm Tiffany and I blog over at Killing Time about sewing, life, and a little bit of randomness... I've been blogging for about 6 months and I enjoy meeting new people and finding awesome crafts.
I've lived in Oklahoma pretty much all my life, I love it here and can't imagine myself anywhere else!

  52. Hi, Tam. I spend a lot of time lurking on your blog (and voting :), but I've never left a comment. I would probably quit blogging if it weren't for all of the amazing people I have met. They keep me motivated. I live in Connecticut and have two little girls. P.S. You look fabulous for being 30 weeks pregnant!

  53. Hi Tam,

Your children are just darling & congrats on the new baby boy!

I'm Aimee, and I blog at ajcrazies.blogspot.com. It's a lot of creating and crafting, but also tidbits of cooking, family, and friends. I live in Yacolt, Washington, I'm a freshman in high school, and I have 11 siblings. It's so nice to learn a little bit about you!

  54. Love it! Isn't Tauni a life/blog changer! I am FINALLY taking her advice and changing my blog too! It just took me awhile to figure out what I really wanted, I thought it was money, but really it's fun and socializing! Going back to focusing on what I love in addition to what makes me unique (my cakes) is my new focus...

Thanks for all you do! www.craftingforchiari.blogspot.com

  64. I love the sharing! Especially since you mentioned you were an accountant before becoming a SAHM. That's me too. And my hubby was born in St. George. We're kindred spirits. :)

  65. Thanks for sharing! I'm suuuper behind on my feed reader, ha. I'm Laura from www.onthelaundryline.com ... I was going to be a graphics designer but then decided I was too sensitive to work in the field (you don't like my deisn? WAAAAAAAH! would be unprofessional) so I was going to go back to school to become a teacher the year after hubby and I got married. We were supposed to never be able to get pregnant so I wanted a really fulfilling career. Well, two months after we got married I did get pregnant, and this August we'll have been married for five years and we have two beautiful daughters! :D So, I do have a really fulfilling job, and I greatly enjoy creating things in my spare time.

Where I am no longer blogging, this blog is for reading purposes only. I am afraid I just can't keep up with it anymore, therefore, I may not be able to reply to all comments. Thank you.
