If I Can Do It…

I have a comfort zone in terms of creativity. Something that is NOT in my comfort zone is paper crafting. Things like scrapbooking, card making, etc. I just don’t have the knack for it.

However, you know the Epic Letterpress from Lifestyle Crafts you’ve seen being used all over the crafty blog world? I was sent one, and after seeing all the awesome things made with it, I wanted to venture outside my comfort zone.

I made Mother’s Day cards.
Orange-#1
You can see it is far from perfect. A couple of things I want to point out that the Letterpress can do:
1) Ink emboss: the orange damask part on the paper and the blue “love”.
2) Emboss: the simple damask design on the white of the paper. Just without the ink.
3) Die cut: the “love tag” cut out.

All 3 were done with this nifty machine, and remember I’m a beginner. Think of all the things you cand do if you actually know what you are doing!

I have to admit that there is a bit of a learning curve with this. I used WAY too much ink the first time which resulted in smudges and took a long time to dry, but look how cute my kids made the inside.

With a card like that, the Grandmas didn’t care about the imperfections on the outside.

I knew I hadn’t done the best the first time around and I still had a few more Mother’s Day cards to make, so I was brave and tried some more.

Much better!

There are still some imperfections, but the second time around went much faster and smoother.

If you guys are step-by-step people like me, you probably want a tutorial, and that is exactly what I’ll give you in a couple of days as well as a GIVEAWAY for one of these fabulous machines! I’ll also have a 20% off discount code for you, so stick around the next couple of days.

In the meantime, don’t be afraid to try something new (even if the first time is awful). There may be a learning curve AND if I can do paper crafting, you can do ANYTHING – TRUST ME!!!

Happy Monday!

  3. You did a great job! I have had that machine since it first came out(several years ago) and have not use it yet, just not enough time. You have given me inspiration to use it.

  4. Super cute, Tam! Oh how I wish we could share a brain sometime. I love papercrafting but haven't a clue how to use a sewing machine. Can't wait for the tutorial!
