Catching My Breath

Sorry for the lateness of this post, and it’s a little more about me rather than crafty. Life has been quite a bit busy for my cute little family.
Among some of those events, I got to go to an incredible photography workshop by Kristen Duke, where I got to see old friends and make a bunch of new ones. You all remember her right? Contestant in Season 1 of “Crafting with the Stars”, author of the ebook “Say NO! to Auto”, and an amazing photographer?

It was a great hands-on learning experience.
Photography workshop

For those who have haggled asked me for prego shots, there you go – that’s my bump. Only a few more weeks and we’ve been busy, busy, busy getting ready for this little guy with swapping rooms, painting, sewing bedding, refinishing furniture, etc..

We moved this guy into a “big boy” bed and started potty-training. I really wanted to wait a few months until I could get a better handle on things, but he’s ready now darn it!
And just look at that picture! I’m so excited! I’ve been practicing everything I learned in the workshop and my pictures are looking SOOOO much better (THANK YOU KRISTEN!!!).

None of the pictures in this post have been edited. I wanted to show all of you just how great they look straight out of the camera.
We’ve had dance recitals that were DARK, our seats were pretty far back, and flash photography was not allowed. So what did I do? Cranked up my ISO and I was able to still get pictures of my beautiful girls.
My 5-year old learned how to ride a bike without training wheels. I adjusted my shutter speed to get these.
Then both my girls had their preschool graduations.
(Unfortunately, these were taken on AUTO because they were right before the workshop, so you can see they aren’t as good).
Once again, thank you to Kristen Duke for teaching me how to use my camera! If you can make it to one of her workshops, I highly recommend it. Otherwise, she just started teaching via Skype and that would certainly be the way to go!

I have to say that I am definitely ready for summertime! How about you?
