I’ve been searching and searching for a lamp to makeover for the guest bedroom. The other day, I finally found this baby at my local thrift store for $3.00.
The first thing that had to go was the plastic pleated thing stuck to the actual lampshade.
Next I needed to cut out my fabric piece.
I placed my shade at one end and rolled it across my fabric to get this piece, by cutting just slightly larger along the edges.
Then I sprayed the outside of my lampshade with some adhesive and rolled the lampshade along the fabric piece, smoothing the fabric flat as I went around.
Then I sprayed the inside of the lampshade along the top and bottom and smoothed the fabric down.
I gave the lampbase some spray paint love and now have a new, beautiful lamp.
I love it! See that cute little owl? It started out like this (a $0.75 find at my local thrift store).
Faded and gross-looking in spots, it even has a broken ear, but with some chrome spray paint I think it’s a nice addition to my nightstand décor.
Speaking of that nightstand. Want to see the before? (Sorry it’s not that great. I had to search through family photos to find it showing up somewhere since I forgot to take an actual “before” pic).
I’m not a fan of that hardware. I used some wood filler for the two holes from those handles, then drilled one center hole for these new knobs I found at Hobby Lobby.
I really like them a lot. They make the finished nightstand, don’t you think?
While I was refinishing that piece of furniture, I also did this mirror (again no actual “before” pic – sorry).
New and improved version.
I have just a couple more things to show you in this room and then I’ll do the full reveal. It’s been so fun to see it all come together and I’m loving how it’s all turning out and hope you do too.
