July Jamboree Guest Post: Canvas Decoration by Sumo of Sumo’s Sweet Stuff

Hello everybody!
I am so excited to be here posting on Tam's blog today. Pretty nice of her to share her fabulous corner of the blogging world with little 'ol me for the day, don't ya think? I'm so excited for her and her new addition!
I'm Sumo!
My little place in the blogging world is Sumo's Sweet Stuff. I hope you'll come by and say hi!
Today I'm going to share a little canvas decoration that I recently made for my home. It would be so easy to customize to whatever design or area in your house you wanted it to be in!
My inspiration for this came from Pinterest.- and thanks to Lara over at Less Cake, {More Frosting}. Lara had this pinned, and I just loved it.
So here's what ya need:
- canvas
- fabric
- paper - try to get different textures: I had glitter, fuzzy, bumpy; it adds a lot!
- fabric interfacing
- Silhouette or other cutting tool - Lucy was happy to assist me! (Yep, my Silhouette has a name. So does my sewing machine.)
- embellishments
- hot glue/gun
- paint
I wanted a black canvas, because as usual, I was going with my usual theme of black and cream for my house. I know, I know, I need to branch out! But it matches! So I painted the canvas black and set it aside to dry.
Then I used Lucy to cut out hearts of varying sizes in fabric and paper.
Now that my canvas was dry, I started out with my fabric hearts. Did you know you could iron things on to a canvas? I didn't either, until I gave this a try. It totally worked!
Then I started arranging the paper hearts all over the canvas as well and glued those down.
Now it's time to add some embellishments.
Isn't it purdy?
I like it. Like really like it.
And I really love the different textures between the fabrics and the different kinds of papers I used. Definitely gives it more dimension.
Hang it up and stand back to check out your amazing work.
It's okay to pat yourself on the back.
You done good.
I appreciate Tam letting me be here today. I sure hope she's enjoying her time off, snuggling that sweet new babe!
