Hey Sew Dang Cute readers! Nicole here from Wannabe Crafty. How awesome is this JuLY JAmBoREe?!! I'm so excited to be part of it with a tutorial for you today! Summer always leaves me a little low on craft time, so here's a super quick project you can whip up with supplies you already have. Fast, free, and inspired by this frame at Pier 1...
...the Fabric PUFF Frame!
Glue gun and glue sticks
An old picture frame
A handful of batting
Embellishments as desired (I used tulle, Pier 1 used beads, use your imagination!)
Measure how much fabric it will take to wrap around your frame, leaving a little bit to glue down to the back. Mine was 9" x 10.5". Now add 1.5-2" to each measurement to allow for the 'puff' and cut out a fabric piece that size (so I cut out 11" x 12.5")
Center your frame on your fabric and cut out where the photo goes, leaving excess (about 1/2") to wrap around and glue. Cut little slits in all four corners.
Run a line of hot glue and fold your fabric in like so. Repeat on all four sides.
Here's what my frame looked like after that step:
Now grab some batting and lay it on one side of your frame.
Pull the fabric over the batting and glue it to the back. Put your first glue dot in the center and work your way to each end. Here's what mine looked like at this point:
I stuffed both vertical sides and the horizontal sides. On the corners, I just folded the fabric in like this.
Here a pic with all four sides stuffed and wrapped (I promise it's not a lumpy as it appears, the floral print on the fabric just makes it look that way!):
Now just add your embellishment(s), and you’re finished! So quick and simple! This could even be a great kid project :)
Thanks so much for having me, Tam! Check out my other tutes at Wannabe Crafty, and stay tuned here at Sew Dang Cute for plenty more fun all month long with July Jamboree!!
