“That’s Dirty!” {But Beautiful}

A couple of months ago I made this mirror to hang up in my daughters’ shared bedroom.

Yes, the mirror is acid-washed. Remember when Mandi of Vintage Revivals submitted her wall of mirrors for Round 2 in “Crafting with the Stars”? That’s when I first saw one of these mirrors.

Then Amy of The Idea Room made this acid-washed mirror for her daughter’s room with the quote “Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful” on it, and I LOVED it! So much that I wanted it for my girls as well. It’s such a great quote for my daughters to see every day.

First I found this mirror at my local thrift store for $2.00.

Then I followed Mandi’s tutorial to acid-wash the mirror. Super easy to follow along and the entire thing only took about 15 minutes.

Next up I used spray adhesive and glued some fabric to the back of the mirror so it would show through.

Last I used my Silhouette to cut some vinyl with my quote.

I found an ornate frame at Hobby Lobby for 50% off and used Valspar Gloss Exotic Sea Spray Paint that was leftover from the chandelier makeover.

The final step was applying some E6000 to the inside of the frame to glue the mirror in place.

And now it hangs nicely in my daughters’ room.

My 4-year old told me “the mirror was dirty and we needed to clean it.”

  1. That turned out beautifully. I love it.

  2. Love it!
    And having all girls I think this is a great quote for them to read often :)

  3. It turned out just gorgeous! So cute that she thought it was dirty. LOL!
