Sometimes When You Are 5’2”, You Can’t Be a Teacher’s Pet

I’m short, what can I say?

Most of the time it doesn’t affect me when it comes to clothes, but then there’s the rare, sad occasion it does.

Let me back up a bit.

Last month the fabulous people at Shabby Apple contacted me and asked if I wanted to review the Teacher’s Pet skirt?

Umm…is this a trick question? Of course I would love to. Just look how GORGEOUS that thing is.

So a few days later I was so excited when I got a fun delivery on my doorstep.

I broke into a huge smile and even squealed a bit.

I raced back to my room to try it on.

Now before we go on, I want you to look at the above picture again and notice where the skirt falls to on that lovely model. Just below the knees, right?

Hmmm…shall we see where it falls on shorty-pants, short-torso me?

Me-skirt

Pretty sure if this skirt was a pair of pants, I would be sporting some floods.

It felt awkward on me. (I think the picture actually looks better than the real-life version – must be my hubby’s photography skills) LOL!

Now you may think that this story ends there – NOPE!

I just happen to have a beautiful mother who is a smidge taller than me, and is a little smaller than me (she’s given birth to 8 kids – don’t hate her)!

TADA!

Mom-skirt

First…isn’t my mother darling?

I LOVE HER!

Second….it looks super cute on her, huh?

So my story has a happy ending. While I may not be a Teacher’s Pet, my mom sure is!

I do have to mention that just because I didn’t love the way it looked on me, I have seen other people who are also somewhat short that look awesome in this skirt.

Like Alison and Sachiko.

Other people I’ve seen who look beautiful in this skirt are Becky and Christie.

So you just might be Teacher’s Pet material too!

Go check it out over at Shabby Apple!

  1. Your mom is adorable!! :) It doesn't look bad on you!! If it feel uncomfortable though, it's never worth it!

  2. I'm 5'1 so I totally feel your pain! Mostly it's not a problem but every once in awhile I try something on to see I look like child! LOL

  3. I'm 5'2" also, so I can sympathize! Some pieces of clothing are just not meant for short people. I mean, when you're our height, who wants to look shorter?! Nevertheless, the skirt is really cute. :)

  4. No worries! I'm 5'2" as well. The skirt is cute, but I wouldn't pick it for myself, either. If I get clothes online I pick ones that are way too short on the model. That way I figure it will come to a good length on me. (I always feel like long skirts make me look even shorter.)

  5. I'm 5'1" and a little bit, and I really struggle to find anything, a shame about the skirt but it does look wonderful on your mum!

  7. HA! I so understand, Tam! I couldn't have pulled off the skirt without my boots! I'm 5'2" too.

  8. Oh, I still think it looks okay on you!! You're cute! But, I'm only 5'1" so I know what you mean... and I have a skirt that falls a little too low too! It is cute, but after seeing this, I probably wouldn't choose it for myself either!
