I love lamps! I think they add such warmth and comfort to a room, so naturally I had to put one in Ryker’s nursery, and since I couldn’t seem to find anything I liked in the retail industry, I went with my fallback these days: DIY.

I’m calling it the ABC Block lamp. It’s a combination of the fabrics used on the crib bumper.
I was trying to pull more ABC into the room, while also adding more the different colors in the fabrics.
I had this lamp on hand from my oldest daughter’s nursery.

I pried off the chipboard butterflies and ladybugs and took the entire lamp apart. You can easily make this lamp as well with a lamp rod, lamp kit (sold at Wal-Mart for about $6), a wooden base, and 3 wooden blocks.

Then spray painted the base and blocks Krylon Almond.

Next I used my ever-fabulous Silhouette to cut out the vinyl for the blocks.

I was able to find the vinyl at my local Roberts Crafts. They have a great selection of colors!

I recovered the lampshade just like I did HERE, and my lamp was done and ready to go on top of the refinished dresser!

Oh and see that cute way to decorate the wipes case? That fantastic idea came from Miss Ellie G of Less Cake More Frosting. (A must-read BTW. It’s one of those blogs that I read EVERY.SINGLE.WORD. Love it!).

One project closer to room completion. “I think I can, I think I can…..”
