Tis the Season to Give: {DownEast Clothing} **ENDED**

The DownEast Basics holiday line just came out and TWO of you get to choose something from the new catalog!

Fall Catalog

SOOO many cute things to choose from. I was really lucky and received the All-Weather Trench.

I love the olive green color and all the fun buttons! It truly is an all-weather coat. I’ve been wearing it on the chilly fall days, but it’s also thick enough that I can wear it for the snowy winter days as well.

Did you know they have little girls’ clothing as well?

My 6-year old was thrilled to get the Prima Ballerina Skirt, which she paired up with the Angel Cardi and Little Long Sleeve Tee.

Beach Plank Sign

Today I am going to share with you my
Beach Plank Sign.
Beach Plank Sign & Rope Lamp
I went to Lowes and bought (3) 8 ft boards that are 1” thick and 6” wide. Lowes was fabulous and cut the boards in half for me, so I had (6) 4 ft pieces. I used 5 of them and sanded them down to get rid of any splinters.

Then I used Rustoleum Dark Walnut to stain my boards.
DSC_0529
After that I took some brackets to attach the boards together. I put mine together pretty tightly so all the pieces were flush horizontally, and the entire thing acted as one solid piece.
I made this for a friend and she liked the planks staggered a little.
DSC_0015
I used my Silhouette to cut a few stencils out of vinyl. The entire seashell was bigger than could be cut on my machine (this is before I had my Cameo, so that won’t be a problem again).
BTW….Silhouette is having a HUGE Black Friday sale. 30% off (except Cameo, gift cards, and downloads), plus if you use code DANGCUTE you get an extra 10% off, so 40% off!!!
The CAMEO will be discounted on a secret link (which I will share with you Friday). Once on the secret link, get the discount for the Cameo by using CODE DANGCUTE!!!
Anyway, I had to break it up and cut two stencils, then overlaid them to make one. The beach font is Script MT Bold.

Next I grabbed some white DecoArt and painted over the stencils.
DSC_0018
Once the paint was dry, I removed the stencils.

Last I sanded the entire thing a bit to give it more of a weathered/beach look.

Using this same method, I recently made a

How Do You Treat Scars?

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of New-Skin for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I recently shared with you guys HERE that my son split open his head .

It was quite the gash and required 5 stitches.

Now the stitches are out and he's healing.

I'm pretty sure it's going to leave a scar, which is okay, but I'd like to minimize it if I can.

Which is why I was excited to hear about New-Skin Products, particularly their Scar Fade™ Gel.

product-family.png (2 documents, 2 total pages)

I'm sure this is the first of many injuries to come, especially since I have two active little boys, so I think the Liquid Bandage would come in handy a lot as well.

My family also enjoys camping, so I'm intrigued by the Poison Ivy Treatment. It wouldn't hurt to have it on hand, right?

Speaking of camping, right now there is a New-Skin sweepstakes going on, where you could win a 4-day adventure of your choice.

logo-landing-page.png

All you need to do is complete the entry form on the New-Skin® Share the Outdoors sweepstakes link above, and have your friends and family visit your sweepstakes page to earn up to five votes per day – every vote increases your chances of winning the adventure of your choice!

Where would you go? I'd love to hear why you want to win the sweepstakes and how you would use New-Skin® products if you win!  And if you want to improve your chances of winning, feel free to leave a link to your sweepstakes page in your comment to help increase clicks.

Also, if you've used the Scar Fade™ Gel before, I'd love to hear how it worked for you!

Putting CHRIST back into Christmas with The CHRIST Book

I had a different post planned for today, but I’ve been having trouble with my blog today, so we are going to take a step back in time instead. Plus a lot of you might not have been here the first time around. I originally posted this last year about this time and had a great response, then recently I’ve been getting lots of emails from you guys about it and seeing it all over Pinterest, so I thought it would be a good idea to share it again.

Several Christmases ago, my sister-in-law made my mom and dad this neat book, called "The Christ Book". Once I glanced through it, I knew I wanted one for my family as well, so I went about making that happen. This is the cover that another sister-in-law and I made.

It starts off with a table of contents and each day you have a different topic. There is a short explanation, the scripture(s) that pertains to that explanation, a picture from the Primary 1 and 2 picture packets, and a song.

It literally only takes about 5-10 minutes each night, and it is a great way to teach your children to remember Christ each day throughout this Christmas season.

If you want one of your own, here is what you will need:

- Binder to put it all in
- Cover image (download here and print off as an 8x10)
- Main printout (download here - this includes the table of contents and all the topics, explanations, and scriptures)
- Second printout (download here - the title page, one song, and a picture)
- 39 clear plastic page separators
- Primary 1, Picture Packet only
- Primary 2, Picture Packet only
- Printouts of the songs below (click on song):

**I also have a burned CD that has all the songs on it so we have accompaniment since no one in our house plays the piano and singing A Capella would be a bad idea. However, I couldn't figure out how to upload the CD for you to download. Sorry.**

Once you have all of those printed off, locate the table of contents and assemble the book in the order listed.
We usually do one topic per day, beginning in December. There are only 17 topics, so sometimes we will do two or three a day, depending on the topic, then we can get through the entire book twice before Christmas. Sometimes we spend more than one day on a topic, so we can discuss it a little more in-depth with our children. Feel free to use this book however you would like, to fit the needs of your family. May you all have CHRIST in your homes this holiday season and throughout the year.

What You Didn’t Know About the Cameo

I was lucky enough to be asked by Silhouette to review their new Cameo cutting machine.

Cameo-Logo

CAMEO-flower

If you read my blog at all, then you know how much I love my SD. I’ve used it for TONS of different projects including:

ABC Magnets                                             Appliques on a quilt

Magnets-cutoutBlanket

             Vinyl                                                                  Stencils

Shoe-organizerFamily-Motto-Sign

and many more.

So if I’ve been able to do so much with the SD, what’s so great about the Cameo. I mean besides the extra 3” (SD was 9”, Cameo is 12”).

Here’s what I found to be some of the improvements:

1. A Pause button. This one is HUGE for me. I can’t tell you the number of times I wish I could have used this. Usually it’s because I messed up and started printing too soon (spelled something wrong, forgot to reverse the image, etc.).

Screen-Pause-button

I also really like the light-up screen. It’s seems a little fancier to me, which makes me feel cool, but if you like to craft at night it can also be handy.

2. It loads your medium (paper, vinyl, heat transfer, etc.) so much more smoothly. Sometimes (especially with vinyl), the SD would scrunch up the vinyl as it was loading. I felt like you had to hold it “just so” to get it to load ok. The Cameo doesn’t have this problem at all. It’s awesome!

DSC_0809

Also if you notice my paper is an 8.5” sheet, and the cutting mat is 12”. You can adjust the rollers (white cylinder things) so if you still have SD products, they will work. You can use all sorts of sizes by adjusting the rollers. And if by chance you can’t remember how to adjust them, they are right on the inside cover for your convenience.

Roller-cap-directions

3. ONE Adjustable blade. The SD had different caps, but they were little and I seemed to lose them a lot. Having one blade that I simply adjust is fabulous.

Blade

Now don’t be intimated by this by thinking “how do I know what to set it on?” because the program tells you that. Select what you are cutting and you are told what number to turn the red mark to on the blade.

See below I selected Print Paper and it told me to set the blade at 2.

Cut-settings

Speaking of adjusting the blade. There is small part called a ratchet cap that you use to twist it.

Removable-racketAdjusting-blade

However, if you are worried about losing this one (like I know I will do), there is a stationary ratchet cap built right in to the Cameo, making it a breeze to adjust the blade.

Stationary-racketTwist-blade-in-stationary-racket

I give it 2 thumbs up! Thumbs upThumbs up

And since I know so many of you want one….I’ve got a special Black Friday deal coming up for you, but it’s top secret until Black Friday.

In the meantime, I’m going to share more projects using the Silhouette.

So stick around and start hinting to your significant other what you want for Christmas! Winking smile

But if you just can’t wait until then , here’s a list of all the blogs doing a giveaway for a Cameo right now.
