A New Look

Next week I’m going to be celebrating a pretty big milestone birthday – 30! I have loved my 20’s. I got married, graduated from college, moved 300 miles away from my parents, worked as an accountant for several years, bought a house, and was blessed with four of the best children I could ever hope for.

A couple of weeks ago, I was reflecting on the last decade or so of my life and realized that as I approach 30 I have grown and changed so much (hopefully for the better). I am happier now than I have been in my entire life.

As I was thinking these things, I turned my thoughts to my blog. When I first started I wasn’t quite sure what I was doing, but I was having fun. Now I feel like I have a much better sense of my style and who I am as a blogger. My blog design was bright, fun, and cute. I liked it, but I needed a change. I don’t feel like I’m “cute” anymore and I wanted my blog to reflect more of who I am now, and how my style has adapted.

So I turned to the blog design genius, Kim of 733 Blog Design, and she was amazing!
She worked with me and worked with me and worked with me and ….. (yeah it was a lot of work)
…until it was the look I was going for.
It’s perfect – and exactly what I was hoping for!
Much more clean and simple! An air of elegance and sophistication, but still fun and happy.

I really love the social network menu at the top, and the simplified main menu bar at the bottom of my header!

Hopefully, it’s easier to navigate for all of you. All of my tutorials and projects are under the tutorials and projects tab, and there’s a small picture and description of each one on that page.

If you can’t find it listed under there, I still have a search box in the sidebar.

Several months ago, some of you noticed that I stopped taking advertisements. This blog was taking so much of my time and becoming too much of a business. As a SAHM of four very young children, things had to change. If you haven’t read THIS POST by my friend Char, please go read it. I could have signed my name right next to hers because that was the EXACT way I was feeling as well.

Instead I have chosen to let you know  SDCC (Sew Dang Cute Crafts) Supports. These are companies that I genuinely love. They do not pay me a dime to have their button in my sidebar. I have chosen to put them there to share with all of you because I truly like and use these companies. I’m also being much more selective with giveaways. Pretty much the only way a giveaway will make it on this blog is if I feel like it’s something you guys REALLY want.

One last thing that’s new is “This Week on SDCC” in my sidebar.
This Week
Now you guys will always have a reference point for the latest and greatest on SDCC.

Some other  changes:
* I took off my popular posts in the sidebar to clean it up a bit. I felt like it was too busy and cluttered. Please let me know how you feel about that.
* I truncated my posts. The first post will appear in its entirety, but all of the other posts will have a short intro, then “Read More”. That way you can browse through the posts a little easier. This won’t affect how it appears in your feed or places like Google Reader, just when you are on my site.

I think that’s it for now! I would really love to hear what you guys think about the new look.
If you are reading this in Google Reader, would you mind clicking over and checking it out?
Please let me know if you have any problems seeing or finding anything.
I really appreciate each and every one of you. Thank for reading!
