You’ve All Been Wondering, Right?

About my New Year’s Resolutions, huh? Winking smile (picture me chuckling)

I’m pretty sure that how I’ve been doing on my New Year’s resolutions is not the top thing on your mind, but I have had several of you email me asking how one particular resolution is coming.
You know…

You may remember that I’ve been using the “Run Less. Run Faster” training program.
I am proud to say that I have been sticking to this program diligently and absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!
Basically, you only run 3 days a week, then cross-train 2 other days (spinning, swimming, etc.). The 3 runs are interval training, tempo run, and long run.
I have improved so much as a runner using this program.

As a reminder, I was going to shoot for running a 5K on March 24th. Well as it turned out, my husband was out of town that weekend. I was also running a lot better than I anticipated, so instead I just ran a HALF MARATHON on March 31st!

I ran it with two of my good friends Allison and Emily! Oh how I love these girls!
They made the race so much more fun (and it was a TOUGH course – hills and it was a WINDY day).

Even with the harder course, I’ve improved so much as a runner that I smashed my previous PR (personal record) by almost 7 minutes! I gotta say, I’m surprised and excited about that!

I’ve been having so much fun running that I signed up for two more half marathons, the Provo City Half and the Utah Valley Half. I’m also signed up for the Wasatch Back Ragnar Relay, and I just entered the lottery for the St. George Marathon.

Have you guys heard of the Color Me Rad 5K?
I've seen some friends post about this on Facebook and it looks like so much fun!
“You’ll start off with a white shirt…and wind up looking like a pack of skittles.”
How it works:
”Start out as clean as a newborn babe, and throughout the run, you'll coat your chaffing thighs with blue, green, pink, purple, and yellow until your face, shirt, and body come out silkscreened like a tie-dyed hippy on the other side.

Each section of the run adds a new explosion of color to your clean, painter’s palate until you cross the finish line into a final blitzkrieg of color.”
These races are being held all across the US and Canada. Check HERE to look for a race near you.

Doesn’t it look like a blast? I’ll be running the one in Utah on April 28th.

Have you ever wanted to run a 5K? I would love to meet you. I think this race will be so much fun. Please say you’ll sign up and join me!!!

Then since I know not everyone runs, I wanted to quickly mention a fun blogging retreat going on in Utah May 4-5.
The Breathing Space Blogger Retreat will be held in beautiful Daybreak, Utah.
Daybreak
How fun would it be to hang out for a weekend with some fellow bloggers, enjoying great food, terrific classes, fantastic shopping, and more? Sounds heavenly, right?

For more details and to register, go HERE.

Well in a nutshell that’s me and running in 2012. Will I get to see any of you at any of those races?
How are you doing with your New Year’s Resolutions?

Thanks for reading!
Tam

  1. My sister told me about this race about 2 days after I signed up for a 5K at Thanksgiving Point on that same day. Bummer! Maybe next year. Good luck with all your races!
